Plant to Heal is The Healing Garden Project’s garden installation and community transformation program focused on creating healing-centered green spaces in under-resourced communities. Through partnerships with churches, schools, nonprofits, housing communities, and community organizations, the program designs and installs gardens that provide fresh food, support mental wellness, encourage connection, and create spaces for reflection and restoration.

Each garden is thoughtfully created to meet the unique needs of the community it serves and may include raised garden beds, pollinator plants, seating areas, gathering spaces, and culturally meaningful food and herbs. Plant to Heal brings people together through community build days, volunteer engagement, and ongoing garden programming that helps cultivate nourishment, belonging, and long-term community care.

Grow in the Garden is The Healing Garden Project’s wellness and education program designed to bring people together through hands-on garden experiences, healing activities, and community connection. Through workshops, gatherings, and garden-based learning, participants explore topics such as growing food, herbal wellness, mindfulness, nutrition, sustainability, and creative expression.

The program creates welcoming outdoor spaces where children, families, elders, and community members can slow down, learn, heal, and grow together. Whether planting seeds, sharing meals, participating in reflection activities, or learning new gardening skills, Grow in the Garden nurtures well-being, belonging, and deeper connections with the earth and one another.

The Healing Garden Project’s Youth Gardening Club gives children and teens a safe, hands-on space to connect with nature, grow healthy food, and build confidence through gardening. Through interactive activities, youth learn how to plant, harvest, and care for gardens while exploring wellness, environmental stewardship, teamwork, and healthy living.

The program creates opportunities for young people to slow down, get their hands in the soil, and experience the healing power of nature alongside their peers, families, and community. Youth participants also engage in creative projects, garden-based learning, and community service activities that strengthen leadership skills and foster a deeper connection to food, culture, and the earth.

Harvest & Heal is The Healing Garden Project’s community food-sharing and distribution initiative that helps connect fresh, nourishing food with families, elders, and individuals experiencing food insecurity. Through this program, community members, gardeners, farms, and local stores donate surplus fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other healthy food items that are then distributed directly to communities in need through pop-up distributions, partner sites, and community outreach efforts.

The program helps reduce food waste while increasing access to fresh, culturally meaningful food in under-resourced communities. Harvest & Heal strengthens community care, encourages collective giving, and creates opportunities for neighbors to support one another through nourishment, dignity, and connection.
