Meet Our Founder: DeJuana Golden
I believe gardens are more than spaces for growing food—they are sanctuaries of healing, connection, and transformation. As the founder of The Healing Garden Project, my work lives at the intersection of agriculture, community well-being, and social impact. I collaborate with churches, nonprofits, and local organizations to design therapeutic garden programs that nourish the body while nurturing the mind and spirit.
With experience in grant writing, fundraising, and program development, I’ve supported grassroots initiatives in building both financial sustainability and operational strength. My journey includes serving as a Grants Coordinator for The Pollination Project, funding agriculture-based initiatives across the U.S., Africa, and South America; working as Communications Manager at Farm Lot 59, a sustainable farm in Long Beach; and advising The People’s Garden in Compton, CA. I bring a unique blend of strategic insight and heart-centered leadership to every project.
Currently a Social Entrepreneurship Fellow with the National Benevolent Association, I continue to deepen my expertise in nonprofit leadership, food justice, community herbalism, and urban farming.
I hold an Executive Juris Doctorate, Master of Science in Marketing from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Consciousness and Transformative Studies at National University. In addition, I completed the Community Herbalism Certification Program with Rootwork Herbals and the Future Urban Farmers Academy with Grow2Zero Farms. This academic and hands-on training strengthens my work at the crossroads of social entrepreneurship, community wellness, and transformative change.
My passion is creating sustainable, healing-centered spaces that uplift communities, restore our connection to the land, and spark lasting transformation.
Let’s grow something transformative together.
